Twenty-first Century Park
Shenzhen, China
The design was the winning entry in an international design competition assembled by the Shenzhen City Planning and Territory Resource Ministry in Shenzhen, China. This 21st century park symbolizes the government’s open relationship with its citizens and provides it with a vital new gathering place. Among its sustainable features is a necklace of water that serves as a cleansing function. A series of stepped green roof terraces shelter a retail, restaurant and theater complex, maximizing light and providing a variety of social spaces.
Kathleen Bakewell was the project manager and lead landscape architect for this project while employed at Balmori Associates, prior to founding Brook Farm Group.
